Double-edged Guitarist

Great Kat is the fastest woman in the world of metal. Guitarist who reinvents Beethoven with great speed.

Fast, furious, considered among the ten fastest in the world, she does not drive a race car but her guitar. Great Kat has spent many years nurturing the double-edged sword that is her instrument, emulating the notes of shred metal and Classical music, because Beethoven also has a sharp side.

Great Kat is a performer par excellence who has managed to remain in underground, and now returns with Beethoven's Guitar Shred, a DVD which puts her virtuosity to the service of these musical geniuses, makes your hair stand on end, and this was said by a headbanger.

This violin virtuoso, but more of the guitar, began her career back in 1987 with her CD Worship Me Or Die!, and to date she has become a cult figure, especially for her persistence and pursuit to always be in contact with her fans.

And that's precisely where her greatness lies, where it has been made available to those who have followed her career, with essential CDs, abundant in sound like few others, always looking to be guided with fast and evocative notes. If you are looking for speed, Great Kat does it without hesitation, and always with a touch of blood, because metal is to be carried in the veins, until it explodes.

So her discography is reserved for die-hard metalheads, who see their special speed queen, with her sado wardrobe, and with a career that many musicians would envy today.

Her CDs are gems of virtuosity and ahead of time, always premised on speed, always with the fingers on the verge of bleeding, flashes of the woman who puts her touch to the strings, and that must be said, has much to show.

Beethoven mosh
It is not new that guitarists emulate classical music. From Ritchie Blackmore, with Deep Purple, one can speak of the great combination of hard rock with classical music. Ritchie is known for his solos full of feeling and long improvisations which emphasizes his talent and virtuosity. With Rainbow, his own band, he showed the spirit of Beethoven, dedicated long passages to him, with orchestra with quality.

Great Kat although not directly followed that school, knew how to adapt speed metal with classical touches, without losing respect for the great composers, to which she dedicated her fist and blood to the great scores.

In her discs you notice the manner of giving tribute and uplifting these composers with her peculiar and defiant style, from her second CD Beethoven On Speed (1990) you notice concern with adaptations of composers like title track, also in Bloody Vivaldi (1998), or Wagner's War (2002), always with musicians of quality, and with polished guitars and violins, to complement its productions.

So in the list of the fastest like Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Mike D' Angelo, always appears Great Kat, perhaps the only woman to be a part of the lists made by specialized magazines.

In her recent DVD by way of the images it unites the capricious with the excessive parts that nourish and feed your spirit, with the scores that are born of the soul and her passion by the speed.

This flight starts precisely with “The Flight Of The Bumble-Bee”, “Tortures Techniques”, “Paganini's Caprice # 24”, “Blood”, “Beethoven's 5th Symphony”, “Islamofascists”, “Bach's Brandenburg Concerto # 3”, plus bonus features with images with lots of skin.

In this DVD Kat is doing a circus show, roping and theatrics, but not just do it, but it actually captures attention, and although it goes by very fast, since it can not be otherwise, the guitarist makes the music flow and electrifies the senses, and she reminds us how great were those who contributed these notes to the history of music, and as with the metal, she knows how to combine them perfectly.

2010-04-18•Cultura
